Job Description We are seeking a Senior Backend & Infrastructure Engineer to join as a core member, responsible for designing, building, and scaling the software infrastructure that powers our next-generation robotic data platform. You will lead architectural decisions for critical systems, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance to handle the challenges of massive multimodal robotic data processing. We particularly value candidates with a combination of “Big Tech perspective” and “Startup execution” — those who have witnessed and contributed to large-scale, high-standard infrastructure at leading U.S. tech companies, while also having a proven track record of hands-on system building and pragmatic problem-solving in startup or high-growth environments. You will leverage this hybrid experience to be a driving force in evolving our tech stack. Key Responsibilities – Architecture & Design: Lead the core architectural design of backend services and data platforms. Establish and promote scalable, secure, and maintainable technical solutions and best practices. – Systems Development: Build and optimize high-performance data pipelines and services for real-time ingestion, storage, computation, and distribution of multimodal robotic data (e.g., video, sensor streams). – Infrastructure Engineering: Design, implement, and maintain our Kubernetes-centric cloud-native infrastructure platform, advancing our CI/CD, monitoring, alerting, and cost-optimization systems. – Technical Leadership: Act as the technical lead for projects, driving the implementation of complex initiatives. Conduct critical code reviews and elevate the overall engineering quality and efficiency of the team. – Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with algorithm, robotics, and frontend teams. Deeply understand business needs to efficiently and reliably integrate complex AI models and data processing workflows into production systems. Minimum Qualifications – Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field. 5+ years of professional experience in backend or infrastructure development. – Deep Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Go or Python, with a solid understanding of Linux and networking. Substantial hands-on experience with distributed systems, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and API design. – Cloud-Native & Operational Excellence: Proven end-to-end experience designing, building, and maintaining production-grade services on AWS, GCP, or Azure. Expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, service mesh, and related ecosystem tools. – Systems Thinking & Problem Solving: Excellent system design skills, with a track record of owning complex modules. High sensitivity and ability to optimize for system performance, reliability, and technical debt. – Hybrid Background Preferred: Professional experience in core infrastructure teams at leading U.S. technology companies (e.g., FAANG or comparable), coupled with hands-on experience building systems from 0 to 1 or leading major refactors in a startup or fast-iterating product environment. Preferred Qualifications – Experience with large-scale data pipelines (e.g., using Kafka, Spark, Flink) or real-time computation systems. – Familiarity with microservice governance, gRPC, or experience building observability platforms. – Interest or project experience in robotics, autonomous driving, or machine learning workflows. – Experience in technology selection, leading technical projects, and mentoring junior engineers. |
